Congress recently passed new product
safety laws. These new laws require all manufactures of products regulated by
the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), mattresses included, to certify
their products. Therefore from this point forward every shipment of Martin
Mattresses will be accompanied by their certification.
The CPSC does not currently
require mattress retailers and wholesalers to retain the certifications past
the date at which the products leave their possession. The CPSC has stated that at some point the
retailers/wholesalers might be required to keep the certificates for some
length of time. Martin Mattress Mfg. is advising its retailers and
wholesalers to keep these certifications for their records. Keeping the certifications
on file will reduce the liability of a retailer/wholesaler if they were ever
found with a non compliant product.The
retailer/wholesaler would be able to show the CPSC that a Certificate of
Compliance had been received for any product in question.
